But none of them were able to visit Ahobilam temple due to difficulties in reaching the place even though when they tried to visit many a time. His past 14 generations had a strong wish to visit Sri Ahobila Narasimha swamy (which is located in Kurnool district, Andhra Pradesh) and offer valuables from their earnings in their lives. Narasimha Reddy too had immense faith on Lord Narasimha Swamy. All his fathers and forefathers worshipped Sri Ahobila Narasimha Swamy from many ages. He used to work in the Penukonda Kingdom. In 14th century there lived an ardent devotee of Lord Narasimha Swamy in Penukonda named Pedda Narasimha Reddy. Once Hiranyakashipu points to a pillar and asks if Vishnu is present in it. Prahlada declares the omnipresence of Lord Vishnu. Repeated pressurization on him yields no results for Hiranyakashipu. However his son Prahlada (who a devoted worshiper of Lord Vishnu!) refuses. Declares himself as god and asks people to utter no god’s name except his. With virtually no fear of death he unleashes terror. That he would not die either on earth or in space nor in fire nor in water neither during day nor at night neither inside nor outside (of a home) nor by a human, animal or God neither by inanimate nor by animate being.īrahma grants the boon. Impressed by this act, Brahma offers him anything he wants. He performs penance to please Brahma, the god of creation. Hiranyaksha’s brother Hiranyakashipu wants to take revenge by destroying Lord Vishnu and his followers. Vishnu kills the demon Hiranyaksha during his Varaha avatar. Lord Vishnu takes the form of Narasimha in his fourth incarnation, the previous one being that of a Boar (Varaha).
